Welcome

Who would have ever thought that you could find true love in a bar? We're proof that not everyone in the club is out for a casual fling. After 4 years and a lot of fun, we're finally ready to make it official :)  I can't wait to marry my best friend and be Mrs. Laursen and start the final chapter in our story!

We went to the Excellence Riviera Resort in Cancun for our first dating anniversary. This was also the first time I got to meet his dad and stepmom since they joined us there. What an amazing place!! All inclusive actually meant all inclusive. Whatever we wanted, there was someone ready to make it happen. Diving, relaxing by the pool (which is what we did mostly because he doesn't like the beach, lol), fantastic dinners that someone else cooked and cleaned for, and an adults only atmosphere made it the perfect vacation.

When we had to decide about the wedding, we decided to go away alone so no one would feel obligated to come, feelings wouldn't be hurt if people weren't invited, and no having to choose between our friends for a bridal party. It has made it so much less stressful and since we just moved into our house, less stress has been great! We thought about Tahoe, but we weren't able to find exactly what we were looking for in terms of a wedding/honeymoon. Then we remembered Cancun and how much it did have to offer. I had already remembered that when we were there the first time, I'd hoped we'd get to come back for a wedding. Granted, it took him 3 more years to get to it, but he did and that's all that matters :)

We know there are still some hurt feelings about the fact that we chose not to invite anyone. We hope you will all understand the reasons we chose to do it this way. We will have incredible pictures to show everyone when we get back (I'll try to post some on here as we go), and there is going to be a big reception for people to celebrate with us before we leave. Yes, we tend to do things backwards, oh well.  To help clear up some of the confusion: the reception is on Oct 20, we leave for Cancun Oct 28, and the wedding is on Nov 2. We get back home Nov 4. We really are doing everything backwards, down to the wedding at the end of the honeymoon, lol ;)

This registry is a way for those of you that WANT to help us on our trip, to be able to do so. That backwards thing means we already have all the necessities that true newleyweds usually need. However, a new house also means we have less spare money to put towards extra things that would take a great honeymoon to the next level. If you are so inclined, we have chosen several things we would like to add to our trip and also have some general donation choices that will go straight toward paying for the hotel/airfare. Anything our friends and family feel like contributing will definitely be appreciated and will help our wedding be the trip of a lifetime.

Thank you in advance for anything you feel like helping us with!  We are looking forward to starting our "official" life together and sharing this with our friends and family. The new porch is a great place to sit and relax, so feel free to stop by and enjoy it with us. As soon as the weather starts cooling off, the fire pit will get finished and be ready for roasting marshmallows for those that like them (not me!!) or hanging out with a nice warm drink and great friends.

Thank you again and we love you all!
